5 Month Weight Loss Plan that Really Works

The phrase "the hope is eternal" could easily apply to diet. Despite that the last dozen diets we embarked upon us did not get closer to our goal weight (heck, we even gained a few pounds over the last one), still attached to the current diet du jour to believe that it would be different. We would like to respect the strict meal plant, we would say to ourselves, and no matter how hungry we would get, we would not cave. And yet, as we were given at the outset, a couple of months, weeks or just days later, we found ourselves at the vending machine or the drive-through, defeated. "Research shows that up to 90 percent of diets fail," says Lisa Sasson, RD, a professor in the department of nutrition, food studies and public health at New York University in Manhattan. Do not let the number scare you sad, though. There are reasons why identifiable most diets fail and solid research on what works (most of these things are a fundamental part of the diet better life). Sasson dishes on what can go wrong and how to do well.

Diets do not work because they are, well, diets.

A diet is, by nature, temporary ... and so is the weight loss that results. Even if you plan to keep up a diet, most are so restrictive that you rebel sheer boredom. Who can eat carrots and rice cakes for the rest of his life? (Answer: A rabbit.)

What works: Lifestyle changes, however, are gradual, healthy and sustainable. Increasing the intake of vegetables and cuts out (but not entirely cut) sugar and saturated fat, such as, these things are can be done for life. Sounds familiar? The Best Life Diet is more of a lifestyle than a diet. It is a plan that allows you to eat the foods you love and enjoy eating while still peeling off pounds and live a healthier life.

Many diets do not work because they feed the hunger and cravings.

Here's a fact: You should not be hungry when you're trying to lose weight. Hunger is not a sign that you're doing well on a diet, it's a sign you need to eat! If you get too hungry, you eat too much anyway, so it's a lose-lose (or lose earnings, rather). And when you cut off completely your favorite foods, you end up craving them even more, and you can easily lose control when you are around them.

What works instead: Do not be more mildly hungry - when you do, it's time to eat a snack or meal. Use the Hunger Scale to keep your hunger under control.

Most diets do not work because they focus only on food.

Being physically hungry is only one reason people eat (or overeat). The others? Emotions and boredom, to name a few. If a diet plan or food does not address the psychological and emotional aspects of overeating, it is incomplete. Many plans also fail to take into account other lifestyle habits. For example, you are getting enough sleep? You can misinterpret fatigue as hunger.

What works: Keep a food diary and make a note of your emotional state when eating - you may find that you reach for M & Ms when you're stressed (in which case you can work on relieving stress in a different way - as exercise ) or you eat without thinking of boredom. To get to the root of emotional eating, take a moment to do exercises like Bob Greene Circle of Life. In addition, after the healthy-living advice on this website and in the best diet for life, including quitting smoking, staying hydrated and getting enough rest, it will help you stick to the plan and do your goals
.
Diets can fail because expectations are unrealistic.

Any plan that promises you'll drop more than two pounds a week is not only unhealthy (fast weight loss is actually the loss of fluids and muscle, not fat), it is one that you setting up to fail. If a goal of weight loss is so great that you can not possibly meet without almost starving yourself, you will be quite disappointed in yourself that you can give up altogether.

What works instead: A realistic goal of one or two pounds of loss of each week. Research shows that the slow and steady weight loss is healthier and longer lasting. This is exactly what the best life plan was designed to give.
